82 different colleges were represented at the 2021 College Rugby Championships.
Besides the 37 specific-school teams, rep side teams (10s and 7s) had participants from 45 universities and colleges. The participating teams included more than 700 players with many college seniors getting in one last great moment of rugby before their college career ends.
"NCR did a great job in their first year running the tournament. It was a great environment and run very well. We're looking forward to competing for a bid next year and getting an even better result. The team is so young and we have great talent coming in next year. I think in the next few years we could really make a run at winning the whole thing."
"What's that you say? You've been missing collegiate rugby the past year and a half? Well this weekend, the premier collegiate rugby organization, National Collegiate Rugby, is hosting the most innovative collegiate rugby event in years - May Madness 7s - with women's AND men's brackets at the NOLA Gold's home facility in New Orleans. Much like March Madness for basketball, this tournament features underdogs, unknowns, blue bloods, and teams in between in a knockout rugby tournament that will be a refreshing return to competitive rugby for many. Extra bonus, NCR created a website where you can login and fill out brackets for both the women's and/or men's competitions. When you have a moment, give the site a visit and fill out a bracket! Double bonus, all the matches are being streamed live and FREE on The Rugby Network app. Matches kick off in a half hour! Kudos to the forward thinking folks at NCR for continuing to promote, grow, and support the collegiate rugby game."
-Todd Streeter, Commissioner, Great Midwest Rugby Conference

"Thank you for your continuous support and commitment over the years (with us speaking as both NCR-affiliated coaches/admins and referees). I'm proud to be affiliated with NCR, and I look forward to what the future holds for the organization and for college rugby as a whole."
