Marolton, NJ – The Washington State University Men's Rugby Club is set to join National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) for the upcoming school year. and will pursue a 15s NCR national championship playoff path this fall. The Cougars are excited to take advantage of all the other playing opportunities & resources they are eligible for as NCR members.
WSU Director of Operations Bob Sproull says, "The Washington State University Rugby Football Club is excited to join the National Collegiate Rugby Conference. We believe that NCR offers our student athletes an excellent pathway to compete on a national level," said Matt Shaw, WSU Assistant Director of Competitive Sports. Coach Danny Auerbach and Sproull added that they are thrilled that the club is joining NCR along with traditional NCRC league rivals."
Currently, Washington State University plays in the Northwest College Rugby Conference (NCRC). WSU is the second NCRC club moving to NCR with Boise State University Rugby FC. The remaining three have opted to stay USA Rugby oriented. Washington State kicks off the 2021 Fall 15s campaign in September and concludes with the NCR post-season in December. The schedule is anticipated to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
